• 4 years of tutoring experience, tutoring Years 7 - 12
• Volunteered as a teacher's aide in math classes during high school
• 92% in Extension 2 Math (the NSW equivalent of Specialist Math)
• Currently studying a Bachelor of Mathematics at the University of Queensland (6.5/7 GPA)

About me:

More than anything, I want to be a math teacher. I believe it's my job as an educator to find a way to explain concepts that the student(s) will understand - not their job to just "try harder". I was inspired by my high school math teacher, who always treated us as people first and students second. She always met us where we were at, not where we were meant to be. It's an honour to be that person for others.

I know what it's like to struggle in the school system. I have ADHD, and while some of my teachers were understanding, others weren't. That's why I'm particularly passionate about helping neurodivergent and disadvantaged students. Since my brain works slightly differently, I find I can explain the same concept in lots of different ways, which is helpful when the way the teacher explains it doesn't quite click for you.

I am so happy to give a reference for Neptune who is my sons maths tutor. I put out a request to friends locally for a referral for a maths tutor for our son (aged 13) and was recommended Neptune from a good friend. Best referral as he has benefitted enormously from having them as a tutor.

Neptune loves maths and has a passion for learning so is clearly a wonderful teacher. They have the amazing ability to explain maths in several different ways to help paint the picture needed for someone who struggles with maths. Neptune is calm, positive and patient and has a way of making our son feel like his steps forward (even if slow) are a great sense of achievement.
